COMMUNITIES MOVING FORWARD

On Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016 Communities Moving Fowards will be presenting "The Anonymous People": a documentary film on the recovery movement in America. It will be held at the Frank Sarris Library at 35 North Jefferson Avenue.
Registration begins at 5:00 PM and the film begins at 5:30 PM and will be followed by a panel discussion.
The event is free and refreshments will be served.

LEARN HOW TO SAVE A LIFE

On Thursday, March 10th, 2016, there will be a training seminar regarding overdose prevention.
It will be held at the Frank Sarris Public Library at 35 North Jefferson Avenue.

FIRE INSPECTOR LETTER

Please be aware that The Borough of Canonsburg now has a full-time Fire Inspector and
he has been in the process of mailing letters to businesses in the area.

In time, he will be sending letters to residential properties as well.

If you have a received a letter in the mail and have any questions pertaining to it,

Be aware: Pike Street will be closed between Jefferson Avenue and Greenside Avenue and the parking at the Borough office and the lot across will be closed, please plan accordingly.

On Saturday, September 26th, there will be a fundraising event on Pike Street to help raise funds for the Armory Youth Center.
The event involves live music, BMX stunt bicycles and a raffle to win an ATV!

**TOWN PARK POOL IS NOW CLOSED DURING THE WEEK**
**WILL BE OPEN SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY (SEPT. 5-7), THEN CLOSED FOR THE SEASON!**



LABOR DAY

The Canonsburg Borough offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.
We will reopen Tuesday, September 8th at 8:00 AM.



BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING

The reguarly scheduled Borough Council agenda meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 PM at Council Chambers due to the Labor Day Holiday. The voting meeting will be held as normal, Monday, September 14th.



11TH ANNUAL JACK-O-LATERN JOG

EMERGENCY COMMUNITY PROJECT - HELP NEEDED!

On August 22, 2015 at 8:00 AM we are asking for able-bodied workers that care about the past, present and future of our community to meet at the Payne AME cemetery to complete tasks such as cutting grass, weed-whacking and cutting trees to restore the dignity back to the deceased that are entombed at Payne AME Cemetery.

HIRING SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS

The Borough of Canonsburg and the Canon McMillan School District is looking to hire two School Crossing Guards. (One for Canonsburg Middle School and one for First Street Elementary). This is a 3 hour position with 1 1/2 hours in the morning and 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon, the salary is $11/hour.

The Humane Society will be holding an Adopt-a-Dog event at Town Park pool on Friday, July 31st from 2 - 4 PM.

KENNYWOOD DAY

Canonsburg Community Day at Kennywood Park will on July 15th.
Tickets can be purchased at the Canonsburg FIRE DEPARTMENT:
July 13th and 14th from 2-9 PM, July 15th from 8-12.

Prices are:
Ride All Day - $27.00 per person
55 and over/Senior - $17.00 per person (ID may be asked for)

Bus tickets will also be available - $18.00 per person, round trip purchase only.

SWIM LESSONS AT TOWN PARK

Six 45 minute lessons - Small groups of 4 or 5 per instructor - Grouped according to age and ability level**

First lesson will be on Tuesday, July 14th from 11:00-11:45 AM, then as follows:

Cost for all 6 sessions is $60 for the first child, $45 for each additional sibling.

The Fourth of July Parade and festivities will be held on SATURDAY, July 4th, 2015.
Chairs can be placed 48 hours before the start of the parade.
*Fireworks will begin at 9:45, there will be NO stadium seating this year*

TOWN PARK

Season pool passes can be purchased online under the "Park and Pool" tab on the main page of the website.
Pool passes can also be purchased at the pool during regular hours.

If you are interested in having a pool party, you must inquire at the pool or call 724-745-0963.

Town Park Pool will be open on weekends from 12 - 6 PM and will open daily beginning June 8th.

There is very limited availability of the Main and Yoney Pavilion for this summer. However, we are still taking reservations for open dates, please call the Borough Office at 724-745-1800 to hear available dates.

2000 HONDA SCOOTER FOR SALE

Please be advised that the borough of Canonsburg will be accepting sealed bids for the following:

A year 2000 Honda Scooter with 1,499 miles on it. The Scooter bids will be received until 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the borough offices (68 East Pike Street, Canonsburg). Any and all bids must be in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Bid on 2000 Honda Scooter”. Bids will be opened and read aloud at 11:01 AM in the borough council chambers.

The scooter is being sold
as is and the Borough assumes no liability for the scooter after purchase.

A check for the
full amount of bid must be included with the sealed bids.

The cost of transferring the title shall be borne by the highest bidder to who the vehicle is sold.


The vehicle may be examined at the Borough Building M-F 8 AM until 4 PM by calling the Manager at (724) 745-1800 ext. 6 to arrange for a view of the scooter.

They will be accepting items such as: televisions,computers, stereos, ink/toner cartidges, cell/home phones, CFL bulbc, microwaves, etc.

WINTER ROAD CONDITIONS

If there are hazardous road conditions in Canonsburg Borough this winter, please call the Public Works Borough Garage directly at 724-745-1803 and leave a message with your name, number and a detailed location of the problem. The Public Works Director will regularly check messages return your call as soon as possible.

 

WARMING CENTER

There will be a warming center at the Senior Citizen's Center located at 30 East Pike Street. It will be daily Monday-Friday, from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

The Canon-McMillan School District will have online registration March 1-31. Please contact your child's school to request a Secure ID code.

 DOG LICENSES

Dog licenses must be done through Washington County, they cannot be processed at the Canonsburg Borough Office.
